Masjid Al Haram is the largest mosque in the world. Its other common names are Masjid Haram or simply Al Haram. Al Haram mosque built around the four sides of the Kaaba. It situated in the holy city of Muslims name Makkah or Mecca in Saudi Arabia. Al Masjid Al Haram is one of the Muslim most largest mosque in the world. Other mosques like Al Masjid An Nabawi, Grand Jamia Mosque, Karachi and Al Aqsa Mosque, Jerusalem are also have huge capacity for worshipers but Al Haram Mosque, Makkah, has the higher capacity where almost 4 millions worshipers can offer prayer at the same time.
Throughout the year, millons of people come here to circumambulate or tawaf of Baitullah, perform Umrah and for perform Hajj during the Hajj days. It is the more sacred place in contrast of Masjid Nabvi and Masjid Al Aqsa. The reward of offering one prayer here is equal to the reward of offering a hundred thousand prayers in other places. Our beloved Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) also loved Makkah very much.
As of August 2020, the Great Mosque is the world’s largest mosque and eighth-largest structure. Over the years, the Great Mosque has undergone extensive modifications and extensions. The extension and maintenance have passed through the hands of several caliphs, sultans, and kings, and is presently in the hands of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman of Saudi Arabia.

During Covid-19

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the mosque began to close at night from March 5, 2020. Umrah pilgrimage stopped during this time to protect people from it. Centuries later it happened. Fence placed around the Kaaba so that people should not touch. The first phase of a gradual restoration of Umrah service opened at a rate of 30% on October 4, 2020. Initially Saudi nationals and expatriates from inside the country gave the opportunity to perform Umrah pilgrimage.

After COVID-19

After two years, on August 3, 2022, the barriers removed that placed around the Kaaba. Now the people who come from all over the world can touch and kiss Kaaba once again. Umrah service is fully functional and operating now.
